Surrendering Fear
Mortal: Dear God, I don’t want to surrender my fears to you.
God: Why is that?
Mortal: Because I don’t think you know how it feels like to be scared.
God: Why do you think that I don’t know what is feels like to be scared.
Mortal: You are God. You are most powerful. What could possibly scare you?
God: You are right about me being all powerful, in fact I’m powerful enough to instill the feeling of fear in myself. So, your assumption that I could not know how it feels like to be scared is wrong.
Mortal: OK! So, you know how it feels like to be scared. In that case why do you allow me to be scared?
God: What makes you think that I allow you to be scared?
Mortal: Well your will extends over everything.
God: True. Though have you considered that the same way that I have the power to instill fear in myself, I could have given the same power to you?
Mortal: Well I never considered that. In fact, I never considered that you have the power to instill fear in yourself. It sounded rather absurd.
God: I know. But you grant that it is possible given my nature of being all powerful.
Mortal: Yes. I do. I’m still not totally clear though. Assuming that I have the power to instill fear in myself, why would I allow myself to be scared when that is a feeling that I totally abhor?
God: It is just because you have forgotten that I have given this power to you or never really considered it. In that sense you haven’t really realized your true potential.
Mortal: I can’t believe that it can be that simple. You are saying that I have the power to instill fear in me and by the same token to dispel that fear.
God: Exactly, it is that simple. All you have to do is believe that I have given you this power that I am constantly nurturing that power within you.
Mortal: OK! All this sounds too good to be true. How can I believe this?
God: The same way that you have come to believe everything else about me, through your own experience and that of others. Why else would you be having this conversation with me? Or even imagine that you could possibly have a conversation with me? You might consider thinking about that a bit more. Maybe all the answers you are seeking are already within you.
Mortal: I’m really glad to hear this God and I want to say that I’m very grateful for this opportunity to have a good chat with you.
God: Don’t worry! The feeling is mutual. Have a blessed day, Dear Beloved!
