forty little golden keys

forty little golden keys
slinging from golden rings
dangling from the trees
like angels with no wings

forty little golden keys
and neither one fits
no remedy for the pleas
smashing bits and wits

forty little golden keys
oxorbitant, but feckless
wouldn't lead to any ease
a psyche forever lifeless

forty little golden keys
and a door made of steel
and souls horde like fleas
to be squashed under heels
